[Chugalug] bandwidth usage

What is the easiest way to see how much bandwidth a computer is using? or
maybe even a process?  Is there a commandline way to do it? possibly even
something else like a winders program?  i run nightly backups of some remote
servers and id like to see exactly how much bandwidth it uses, total gig
up/down and what speed its coming in on.  mainly as a gauge to see when im
going to require more bandwidth.
